The other day my check light came on, somehow I notice that I couldn't hear vtec engage or feel it either. Then I notice my speedo and trip odo are also not working. I think to myself, ok it's probably the VSS since vtec isn't working. Get to work and jump the ECU to get codes. 17 - VSS That solves my deduction right there.
At work I pull the entire unit from car and apart to inspect it, everything looks ok. I clean it off give it some contact grease and plug it back into tranny. I test drive car down the street and speedo only flickered up for a moment when I should have engaged to vtec at 3700rpm (d15z1 vtec-e). I figure at this point I need a new VSS, but then I noticed that when the check light comes on after about 2-7 mins of warm up driving the idle starts to pulsate between 1000-1200rpms which has me stumped because I have no idea why a VSS would affect my idle.
Any ides?

No I did not, I thought about it but I was already on my way to being busy with 10 million things this weekend. I didnt think I had two codes, I will have to check it.
