anyone know the rating i need on my helmut? m2000? sa2000? sa95? someone please help.

For Solo2, I believe the following are fine: M90, SA90, M95, SA95, M2000, SA2000.

Although you should definitely check with the appropriate clubs to be sure.

im a dumb *** and bought a helmut before i checked the rating i needed. good thing for me i got one good enough.

 

No no. M90 and SA90 are out of specs for 2002. You need SA95 or M95 or better. These two helmets will expire I think in 2005. So it would be worth the money to get SA2000 or M2000.

 

I though for SCCA SOLO II helmet ratings were good for 15 years, meaning that an S/M 90 could still be good until 2005. At least that is how it is with the Houston SCCA SOLO II region...

 

I don't need a "helmut." I already have a "helmut" head.

 

As far as I know it's only 10 years.

 

From page 58 of the 2002 solo rulebook,

"Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on course. All helmets meeting the current or TWO immediately preceding Snell Foundation standars (SA or M) are acceptable. For 2002 this includes Snell 2000, Snell 1995, and Snell 1990."

 

Correct, Snell 90 and above are legal.
