Default Please help me identify my new tranny!

So I just recieved an Si/EX (92-95) tranny for my weak *** CX engine. The seller is a great guy, but apparently he never used it and he bought it from another guy... So the problem is I don't know if it's a Si or an EX tranny, or which year it is. I'm positive it is the tranny for a Z6 engine though, only due to the P20/B000 stamp located above the filler plug.. (as mentioned in Mista's tranny page )

Since I now have the tranny lying on the garage floor, I was hoping I could get some help identifying the gear ratios.. I saw a picture somewhere showing that if you turn the mainshaft in a certain gear, you should see the differential spin a certain amount along with it.. And you can tell the approximate gear ratios just by spinning the mainshaft. I hope that makes sense!

Please, any help is appreciated. Can't find any batteries for this damn camera, so I can't seem to get any pics... (I could use my cell phone, but it sucks)

Mista Bone's tranny page has gear ratios listed. Are you thinking that the gears were changed thus causing different gear ratios, or are you just checking for your own sanity?

Just wanted to check for my own sanity. But it looks like I found what I was looking for! (for the most part)

I know the above picture is for a 4g tranny, but the 1st and final drive ratios are exactly the same as a 92-95 EX/Si.

Now, if I can only find a way to figure out the 5th gear ratio using the same method....? This way I can tell if it's an Si or an EX.

No I haven't installed it yet, but I will once I get a new clutch....

I found out some more info about figuring out the gear ratios. Check out my other post in the RR/AX forum.

Turns out anyone can figure out exactly what tranny they have if they know how to multiply.

Only the 5th gear is differen't between the Si and Ex models and not by much either so don't worry about it.
