i got a ?...how did u get the crank pully off...its giviing me probs i tryed wedging the flywheel wit a screwdriver nd turn the crank but it wont bust loose even wit pb spray on it...i was thinkin the impact gun but i dont got one nd id have to go buy one but is there any other easy way to do this wit out goin to buy one

 

o nd do i have to put that gay lower cover on bak that the crank pully is holdin on

 

honda has a special tool we use to take those off.... i how-ever dont have that special tool at home... so what ive done in the past is just what you've done, but instead of wedging the flywheel... try taking some 12mm bolts about 3-4" long and sticking them through the flywheel holes, so that they catch the webbing of the block... that should work if you have the tranny and clutch off...

and to answer your second question... no you do not have to put the cover back on, but if your car hits a rock and it flys up into your timing belt.... you might have wanted the extra insurance

 

its an automatic...sadly im jsu replacing the head gasket but i need to replace the waterrpump to nd i cant get that god dam thing off

 

wats the special tool? were can i get it? nd does it cost alot cuz if it doesnt ill go buy it...in the haynes manual it says to wedge it nd turn it wit a breaker bar nd ive tryed that nd it wont break loose

 

u have 2 options 1 buy air toolswhich cost lots of money
or 2 buy a crank shaft pulley holder from the net which cost like 20-30 bucks
its bascily holds the pulley in place while u lossen the nut in side it

 

Look at the thread in my sig on taking it off, theres a pic of the tool you NEEd in there, dont listen to any other idea's especially the screw driver method, you'll wish you hadent, if something goes wrong.

 

If the Wedge screwdriver doesnt not hold the flywheel in place meaning it still turns then buy the honda tool Search on Amazon. Otherwise 1/2" drive breaker bar with some pipe at the end of it for leverage. And jam a screwdriver. I did it through the starter hole. if you go IMPACT you HAVE to buy some good *** gun and thats a lot of money. Use the breaker bar method.

1. Put car in fifth, (maybe park for auto?)
2. Have someone push on brake pedal
3. Get socket, extension, breaker bar
4. Get long cheater pipe to slide over breaker bar (4 feet)
5. Pull hard and break that ****** loose

You can jack up the car a little to get some wheel gap and have access to the crank pulley bolt, but not enough that the wheel leaves the ground.

Worked for me. Better than breaking a screwdriver in the flywheel.

how much torque for an impact gun will i need...will a 275ft/lbs/ of torque do it or shud i get the one wit 500ft/lbs?

 

Get the 500 your going to need it. Also the holding the brake pedal is a good method, but Im going to stress agin the screwdriver is a stuiped bone headed methode to get that bolt out I cant even begine to tell you how many flywheels Ive seen messed up because of that. Go get the right tool there less then $20 online.

i had the same problem, but i used a impact and got in like 2 seconds

 

Why not use a breaker bar and a 10ft piece of pipe? thats what I ended up doing because my 400lb one wouldent do the trick

 

its kinda hard to use a 10 foot piece of pipe wen im doin it in my driveway on jackstands
