I put on my old Miata 14" alloys yesterday, and I don't necessarily think this caused me to have problems, but I need to figure it out fast ......
Driving today, there is a constant thunking, that gets faster as the car gets faster, but it is only very light. But as soon as I hit the brakes, it becomes a lot more prominent. I though the wheels might be hitting something at one point on the wheel, but there is plenty of clearence everywhere, and it only gets louder when I apply the brakes.
So I used JUST the E-brake on the road to test a theory, and it is definitely isolated to the rear brakes/wheel.
Question is, what does it sound like when your rear drums got out??? Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be??

I'm going home right now and putting the stock wheels back on. The whole car is rattling all over the place ..... we'll see if it is any different afterwards.
But I didn't machine the insides of the Miata wheels like people recommend, so they are not a perfect fit ......
