Default Clutch selection help for next season ...

I really want a hands on help with budget clutch setups. I dont have the 1400 for a twin plate next season due to needing to get my car a cage/harnesses/seats. So im looking into a MaxExtreme ACT for my cable 92-93 ls trans. I know it will be a big pain in the butt to press but it saves me money and my extreme I am running now is 5 1/2 years old... still holding but over the years I have actually bent the pressure plate teeth making the peddle pressure weak and increasing my clutch chatter. So all in all its worn out. O yea the car is making 500 whp and has 410 torque. Need some user insite on the clutch and I know GO TWIN but its out of the season budget as stated. Thanks for the help guys

I know it's not what you want, but spend the money now on a competition clutch twin, should be able to get one around $800 ish. (exedy doesn't make one) You can buy a $300-$400 clutch. But once it goes once and you have to buy another one, now you've spent the same as a twin that will last for a long time.

im with brian on this one. i broke 3 act clutches last year just racing at friday night test and tunes......with almost 200 more horsepower this year...my exedy twin disk still looks brand new. the harsh engagement of hte ACT extreme stuff is pretty harsh on transmission and thrust bearings too. buying a twin disk will be cheaper for sure.

Thanks guys I guess its time to bite the bullet haha ... Maybe work more overtime ha.. Thanks for the help

Would you say Competition Clutch is more favored over Exedy or Vice-Versa???

If the price of Competitions unit is only 800ish then thats a good deal

Hit up Tom from lightningmotorsports.com he should be able to get you a fair price on that clutch. 2 years ago, the racer price on that clutch was $700 or so. Mayeb he has gone up, but it should be able to be had for less than $1000
