Default Comptech Icebox

I was wondering is there any power losses with using a comptech icebox with the oem arm vs one hooked up to the comptech intake?

I don't remember there being a huge power difference ever dyno proven. There may be. In my experience there is a bit snappier throttle response with the blingin arm though.

Are you serious?
(There is no sarcasm in my question)

The only reason I didn't buy the blingin' arm is because I figured the metal would heat up and would actually heat up the air coming into the motor.

just use the stock arm. i see no benefit for the money you have to pay for the comptech arm or the aem arm for that matter.

if you are going to use the stock arm, you need to do this. and add K&N ru-2820 or ru-3130.

The ITR stock air filter works with the comptech icebox.

Ehh, I wouldnt buy the intake arm if I had to pay full price. I got the blinging arm because comptech sold it to me at cost. Stock arm is fine.

ya, but no point of useing icebox then, paper filter flow low, and gets dirty more quicker than using stock box

Am I serious? Yes. I don't remember anyone posting any dynos over the years that proved the stock intake arm or the Comptech arm made or lost power in comparison. It was mostly a looks game.

I am also serious that the Comptech intake arm allowed for a snappier throttle response when compared to stock.

Says you.

Looks/Bling is subjective, but how can you say one is better than the other? Price alone, or in your experience comparing the two?

FYI the Comptech is larger Inner Diameter than the stock as well as not tapered.

Bingo.

The Foam Comptech/Uni filter will outflow the stock paper and the K&N, but will require more frequent cleaning and reoiling and will not provide as fine filtering as the aforementioned.

You don't need the arm. Those of us that have it appreciate it for what it provides. People buy "looks" or "bling" stuff all the time. To each his own. Do what you think is worth it. Just remember that the Comptech intake arm will not provide any major gains. Noticeable throttle response, yes but not staggering and or may not warrant you spending your money on.

The icebox itself is worth it to many of us, the arm is optional and often subjective.

I would personally prefer the stock arm rather than the comptech due to the material difference. I also think the tapering is a benefit. starting at three inches and then gradually tapering to the throttle body side will increase air velocity. The only con that I can think of to the stock arm is those three rivet or bumps at the first part of it.
