Tranny makes a whirring noise.. 95 GSR
It's a 95 GSR with 120k on it, all stock the tranny makes a whirring noise when driving I took it to a local mechanic and he said,
"the tranny is almost toast, and pieces from it was falling into the driveshaft, from what I can hear"
What do you guys think? let me know, thanks!

Really hard to tell without actually hearing it. Honda trannies are really susceptible to bearing noises, your tranny bearing might be going out soon. Try to change the tranny fluid first and see if it goes away.
And use honda MTF or GM syncomesh.

does it do it all the time or only with the clutch engaged. mine did it only when the clutch was engaged ended up being the thrust bearing for the clutch. if it does it all the time then i would bet tranny bearings like allready stated.

All the time, would it be easier to sell this one for whatever I can get and buy a new tranny or repair?

if you don't have hookups it will be pretty expensive, i went ahead and did the tranny bearings anyways, because it was a high mileage tranny. with my discount from acura bearings alone were at least $150. i had somebody else do it for me on the side for $150. but if you have to have somebody take the tranny out for you it will run you a decent amount but you will have to do that if you bought a new trans. anyways. i would figure $200 for bearings. then get a quote on just installing the bearings as if you handed them the tranny. then compare that to a cost of a buying somebody else's trans. i'd rather fix my trans then worry about buying a used one and having it do the same thing later, considering your trans. still shifts fine. good luck

I can buy a used GSR one from local shop for about $400-500. I know how to swap the whole tranny my self but I can't swap the bearings (or at least never tryed)
