I know this isnt a honda but figured it would be the same answer. We were at the last SCCA race in our 98 eclipse at ppir and taking one of the last turns and the belt just snapped. Lost power steering, fluid shot everywhere and we started going off the course. Any ideas why this should happen? Would aggressive steering have anything to do with it? We got it replaced but i just dont want it to happen again. Thanks

All the belts were replaced before the season. I think when the belt snapped it grapped the hose off and thats where the fluid came from.
I've seen the Eclipses, etc, cut through the belt and hose when the motor rotates on the mounts. It is more common when the power has been upped over stock and when running race tires. It moves far enough to hit one of the hoses on some shield in front of the motor. I don't remember which hose from the pump or what it hits against, but it was not easy to see. Putting a belt back on and filling it back up made it much easier to see what with the fluid spraying out from the cut hose. Things are VERY TIGHT around the belts and motor in general on those cars.

well we are only at about 150whp and on street tires so i dont think that was our problem. It was just weird cause i have never seen that happen, the car only has 60k and its a new belt.
