timing advace
well.. here's the deal my timing was pretty far off when i checked the timing marks they where about an inch away from the alignment pointer.. so i set it back to where it should be using the timing light, so that i wouldnt have any CEL's but now.. the car drives like **** no throttle responce and bottom end torque is gone.. well not completly but 2nd gear last way longer then it used too.. anyone know how far is in the safe zone to move it back to where it was ? b18b 98 ls engine in a 98 ek coupe..
(cliff need to know how far to advance timing, that is safe for b18b)

mmm.. all i did was hook the timing light up to cyl number 1 and hooked it up to the battery.. and lined up the marks by adjusting the dizzy.. am i doing it wrong? is there anything else im missing? helpp car doesnt wanna run very well... and dies at lights somtimes.. and takes about 10 seconds to turn over to get it started
Is it a simple timing light with no adjustment dial? Are you using the correct marks on the pulley when adjusting the timing? Did you jump the service connector before trying to make the adjustment?
where is the connector... i didnt do that.. is it the one near the ecu? obdII i thought didnt have it.. and im lining the pointer to the middle of the three marks on the crank pulley
have you tried resetting your ecu?? clear the old settings so it can learn the new settings??? plug the ECU fuse out for 15-20 minutes
not sure where the connector is on 94-up

Yes, the service connector is the 2-wire connector located near the ECU. You should jump it with a small wire or paper clip before attempting to adjust the timing.

alright im gonna go try it ill check back in 10 min to see how it goes.. lol im gonna jump the wire and adjust it to the white mark on the pulley or in the middle of the 3 marks?
You want to adjust it to the middle of the 3 marks on the pulley. Since your idle is higher than normal, you may want to adjust it to the red mark shown on the C-Speed instructions.
