Does anyone no where I could get some oem pheonix yellow paint to paint front end?
I had my front end repainted and it doesnt match right. They painted it twice but in darker light you can really tell its off and it bugs me. Can anyine tell me where I can buy the oem paint or buy a oem bumper with lip thats already painted yellow thats in mint condition? thanks
Does anyone have a us spec oem py front end for sale thats in great shape?
Has anyone one had py paint mixed somewhere exactly the same as the oem phoenix yellow? If so where?
Paint changes color over time, due to exposure to the elements etc, and your car's color may not match some other car's color exactly. So you can't just buy paint or buy a bumper and expect it to match; it probably won't.
A good body shop will mix the paint so that the color matches exactly to YOUR car, and will blend it to adjacent panels so it looks perfect.
Take your car back to the body shop that painted your front end and show them that it doesn't match. Any decent body shop will be happy to repaint it for you so that you are satisfied.

I didnt go through insuance so I just told them to repaint the front bumper. They told me it would cost another 500 to blend it into the fenders.
I had my whole front bumper and front lip repainted which cost 542.50 all together with tax. They want to charge me another 500.00 to fade it into the hood and fenders.

You get what you pay for.
And now you're looking around for a bumper or additional painting that's going to cost you the extra $500 it would have cost you to do the job right in the first place.

That's how the very best body shops do it. They do a great job of color-matching the paint AND they blend where it meets adjacent panels.

Actually your answer will not solve the original posters problem. Sure he can buy the paint, but it may never match unless he plans to repaint the entire car.
Ken however is spot on.

So, how many bottles of touch up paing might be needed?
Beacuse quite frankly, I don't think Acura sells pints or quarts of the stuff esp., PY.

I still have one bottle left but even if you thinned it I don't think you could respray a whole bumper.

Understood, but I was thinking a dozen might.
Either way, you'd still have the fade issue Ken mentioned to deal with.

When I got my old R painted two years ago we panel painted the doors and they matched perfect. The paint I used was Sherwin Williams and there are no alternates for that color. Sometimes colors have a few variences or alternates and that makes the matching process difficult but in this case there was only one formula. An experienced painter can do wonders with color matching so be cautious where you bring your car. Yellow is one of the more difficult colors to match but again experience does wonders.
So if they fade the new paint into the hood and fenders it will be hard to tell the difference from the naked eye?
i had some sideskirts painted lastyear from one of the best shops in my area. it came out absolutely perfect...to the shade, and yes i have a PY itr. from my own experience and some friends who had painted their cars also, it really depends on the shop. if you go to a place that does mainly luxury and exotics, then you can expect some great results. there are many places out there who skip steps or take shortcuts to save time and money, and its hard to hide. not worth saving some cash if you cant stand looking at your car in different color shades.
sorry to hear about your situation, but it doesnt need to be "blended" to the rest of the car imho since the front bumper is removable, just 'color matched'. if its something like the rear quarter panel, then i can see the need for "blending". i dont know if its been noted already, but even from the factory, the yellow itr front bumper and lip is somewhat a slightly lighter shade due to them being urethane.

Well the shop I used locally is a good reputable shop that even alot of insurance company's use. They said thay PY has two different variences and that the job they did was as close as any shop is going to get. My bumper looks good when light his hitting it but when under darker dimmer light the front looks darker like it has to much orange in the paint. It really bugs me.
