well the gsr has a lot more power and torque than the 16, and would definately be a good swap into an eg, but im not sure wat the differences are between the j spec and us spec, but i think the j has more power not sure

jdm gsr has a little bit higher compression than the usdm gsr ......and i believe that's the only difference. not 100% sure tho.

comp is 10.4:1 jdm, 10:1 usdm. hp is 180 jdm, 170 usdm, and a hare higher torque, like 3-4 lb-ft on jdm. in my opinion gsr is best bang for ya buck. better than a sweet 16, and a whole lot less than a type r swap. it fits right in the middle.

I am fairly sure the jdm gsr has 10.6 C/R and the USDM has 10 C/R. 180 vs 170hp and a few more torque. They also may have an optional LSD from the factory. I happen to have a b18c with an LSD and its a nice motor. It would smoke in a hatch. Plus the obd1 jdm gsr isnt too bad to ref either.

b18c gsr motor is way better, especially if you decide to boost.

Ive got the jdm b18c in my 94 ex, best $3500 I ever spent! The car became a blast to drive and with a little nitrous you can dust most stock V8's

Well, as long as money is not an object, swap in the more expensive option. Hell, it ain't my money. BUT... you can still make a B16 a fun swap. With the money you'd save you could do other modifications.

It hasn't actually been proven that a JDM motor is faster than a USDM motor. Only motors that are brand new will have those numbers. Obviously the JDM motors we buy have anywhere from 20k-40k miles on them, while a USDM could have the same.

We'd have to get a dynochart with both motors to actually prove this.

I just put that there so he could get an idea. But, if those numbers are produced when new, and after 40k both motors are tested, why should the numbers be different, well, not the numbers, but the difference. They may drop I'm sure, but both should drop the same is my guess...but what do I know..

This could be true. It depends on how the motors are treated, I'm guessing.
