OT: racing movies - Dust to glory
Finally got around to watching it. I give it a 4 out of 5. Probably would have given a 5 out of 5 had it been released in a theater near me. Baja, Dakar, Camel trophy, etc were races that I watched growing up and still do. To me those guys are like super heroes, running against nature and just finishing seems extraordinary.
This movie is going right next to Le Mans and Grand Prix for me, a classic that showcases off road endurance racing. Its a movie the average person won't understand, it doesn't have guy meets girl or something like that. Its about something higher that few can ever dream of accomplishing.

Dust 2 Glory is the best motorsports movie I have. What I love about it is that it catches the soul and passion of racing and expresses why we go through so much trouble to do it.
The only thing I didn't like about it was the soundtrack, they should've set at least some of the segments to some epic, dramatic rock but other than that it is without equal.
I had the good fortune of seeing it in the theater and all I can say is that I hope that one day I can compete in the Baja 1000.

I've lost count of how many times I've said "Holy ****!!!" and "Oh my F-ing GOD!!" during this movie...
I am spent, and I'm only 40 minutes into this thing.
Simply Spectacular.

I agree wholeheartedly! Sarah and I watched it tonight finally, after it sat wrapped for nearly a month. GREAT movie.
Who else was cheering for Mouse the whole way?

Well, if someone is sharing the DVD on the 'net, sure.... but just go buy it, its worth it

I got mine at BestBuy. I always feel cheesy buying movies and music there, but the one near my place actually has some good ****...
The $24 was well worth it. Too bad they didn't have "Step Into Liquid"...
You might be able to buy it from their online store. Dig around, 'cause you might find it cheaper elsewhere.

If you guys like Dust To Glory, see if you can find yourself a copy of On Any Sunday. It was an old film back before my time ( I was born in 1984). Bruce Brown directed the film and later did the Endless Summer. Its an amazing movie that covers everything from flat track to the ISDE. To me its the fore-runner to all the freestyle movies that came out in the 90's!

On Any Sunday is a classic. Its very charming in its 70's style but it still captures the soul of enjoying motorcycle competition very accurately. Bruce Brown's son is the one who directed Dust To Glory.

Yup. I am not into bikes or MotoGP, but I thought this was still a great film about the culture of MotoGP. Very well filmed and narrated.
My pick for the best racing film has to be The Speed Merchants.
