Well, I was going to install an Alpine monitor in my dash and this was the quote I got on JUST THE LABOR:










ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!
I asked em if they were crazy.........
Needless to say, i'm going to get a second quote.

6000 with all the parts inlcuded counds right, but just labor is BS. Of course I guess this will be there first time doing it.

100 hours.. they must be using scissors to cut your dash and a lighter to soder your wires

 

I can build you a full carbon S in 100 hours.

 

There is a shop in Glenside, PA that has done 3 monitor in the dash on s2k's. They replicated the jdm bezel except made it for left hand drive. They charge about 1000 for the labor on the dash install. Then more labor for speakers, amp, sub, wiring, etc...

Thats what I was expecting, around $1500 to $2000, but $6000? How do you sleep at night quoting someone that?

 

I think they sleep on a bag of money.

The piece of paper was because it was a salesperson and we went in back and talked to one of the installers, and they were doodling all kinds of ****.....no matter what way you look at it, it WAY TOO MUCH!!!
Now, I gotta figure out who's gonna do it. I'm gonna try Tweeter Audio and let you know what they quote me.

As for ABT Electronics it's just HUGE. They have done incredile installs and LOTS of "celebrities" cars in my area. If Y2K was on he'd tell you, it's one helluva place. They do everything from home/car video and audio, just crazy top notch ****. I never once had any problems with them with any of my cars so it really caught me off gaurd when they gave me that quote.

How much should it be to mount a screen and cut the dash?

I've been doing audio installations for my own cars and my friend's car for a while now, and I usually charge a 12 pack of Bud Light to install a deck/amp/speakers(stock replacement) because that's about how much beer I drink during the install. =P Maybe some dinner too. Seriously though, knowing somebody in the business really helps. I have a hookup for the materials (a friend owns a car stereo shop), which makes anything easy. I'd expect something around $500-1000 for a professional installation. I was laughing pretty hard at your invoice too.

Maybe they thought you were a celebrity?

rofl.. you dont' even have to take the dash out to drill the hole for it.. hahahahahahah.... it should take no more then like 10 hours... 24 max... ..

you should tell them that there is nothing behind the dash and it's just a pocket of air.. lol

 

I work for an audio shop, Ive seen a lot of custom fiberglass work done.

To be done right Id say it would be at least 2000 in labor to cut and fiberglass mold a bezel.

Even if that ws that case, how professional is that? I went in there knowing what I wanted and had everything layed out for the install, it was just a ridiculous experience.

 

$6000 holy **** where did you get your qoute 'westcoast custom' pimp my ride i dont think they even charge that much there for a indash monitor.

Manager of car audio called me today and said that after reviewing what I wanted said the cost would be $4200.00 JUST for the monitor install.
What a bunch of tools. I guess this is a project i'll hold off on unless somebody can steer me in the right direction in my area. TIA.
