Custom exhaust question...
Does anybody have a custom catback exhaust with the stock GSR tip welded onto the muffler? I was trying to figure out which exhaust I want but I want it to look stock. I was thinking the stock GSR tip welded onto an ES Oval with custom piping? Anyone have a similar setup? Pictures?
dude.....
it be basicaly as restrictive as before and pointless?
why do it? just get a better muffler that looks somewhere like oem.
just get the RSR ex mag, or ws2 from apexi.

How would it be just as restrictive as stock? Did you even read what I said?

Thats exactly what im doing for my exhaust man. Im actually using an edelbrock SDT Oval muffler. 2.5 in and out. im gonna put my gs-r tip on it i think.... maybe just a cheap 3a racing one just for looks.
ill get some picks up when its all done.

put the gsr tip on! i love the look of it so i want to keep it even on the new exhaust. only problem i could see is, isn't there some holes in it where bolts go to tighten it onto the stock exhaust? seems like it would only be a minor problem though
That may indeed be a good idea to have a subtle look, however I don't think there are too many exhaust system/muffler choices as most aftermarket ones have ends that are much larger than the stock GSR tip.
Obviously in that case, you'd have more of a restriction going to a smaller GSR outlet. I don't know too much about the Oval ES, but as far as I know, it has one of the smallest outlets, and the GSR one might fit. Even the Type R exhaust is larger.

es ovals come in 2.25 and 2.5 inch piping</TD></TR></TABLE>
Basically thats what I did. 2.5 in and out oval. Im gonna tack weld a tip on the end. One slightly bigger than the GS-R tip since it doesn't fit over the pipe.
The holes in the bottom are no problem at all, since its just the tip. it wont effect the exhaust one bit.
