Putting the R up for the winter soon, but got a question
Well im about to put the R up for the winter, but got a question about the oil. Well the oil in the car is now about 5 or 6 months old now (i know it is kinda old, but i dont drive her much). I put about 2.2K miles on the oil so far (mobil 1 Syn.). I was wondering since i will not be driving the car for the next 3 or 4 months do you think i should change the oil before i put her in the garage ? that will make the oil about 10 months old after the 4 months max. I will be starting her up every wed. for about 10 mins so will this oil be good till spring? i am just wondering because i dont want to waste oil if i dont have to. Thanks guys

Yes, you should change the oil before she gets put away. Even if it is not being used the oil will still break down and it won't protect then engine properly. The factory recommends every 3 months, but that's not for a full synthetic oil, so you are probably alright with 5 months. I would change it more often just to be safe though.

You dont have to start it ? isnt that bad to let a car sit for 4 months without a start up ?
