BB6 cuts off when i stop.
whats up all. i have a 98 base, 93,xxx miles. when ever i come to a stop the car will cut off. when ever i rev the car past 2k it will fall back down and catch it self at about 100-200 rpm or, it will cut off. i recently let my honda dealership try and fix this problem. they changed the plugs and wires and said its fixed. 2 weeks ;ater it starts up agian. anyone had this problem, or have any thoughts on how i could fix this. starting the car at every stop light is getting old. thanks.
btw: i dont have any problems when the car is moving (when im giveing it gas) and ,there is no cel light. i always run 93 oct. and i change the oil every 2500 miles. about 5000 miles ago i had all the seals, belts and the timeing tensioner changed. (sorry for the poor spelling and gramer job)

i had this same problem. there was a recall on ignition switches in the 5th gen preludes. take it to your local honda dealer and have them swap it out. it will be free of charge. i did this and havent had any problems since.
i went on the honda web site, typed in the vin number and i says my car had this recall done in 2000 i bought the car in 01. i'll take it back to them and tell them to check thanks mang.
Totally. My 92 Lude had the same symptoms when I bought it several months ago. at first I though it was the pugs/wires, then I thought about the fuel filter, fuel regulator, and the injectors. I finally performed a leak down test and found that the intake valves on one of the cylinders was leaking air.....a lot of air. It was causing one cylinder to miss-fire almost constantly. As long as I was on the gas it was fine, but as soon as I let it return to idle it would die on me.
I took the cylinder head off, and got a valve job done on it. I had to replace two bent valves and all of the valve guides on one side. It was a mess. I got it back looking like new, and it's been running great since then.

well it runs great. i have aftermarket I/H/E. its only when i stop, has been doing this off and on for about 6 months. If it was my valves wouldn't it die on stop constantly with no "its doing it this month, but now it's not the next" happing?

How often do you hit VTEC? Have you down shifted to the wrong gear by chance? Also check your IAC and EGR valves..Maybe run some Sea Foam through the motor
car was stolen. i bought from import shop who bought from police (long story). ive haven't mist shift so far. i may hit vtec around 4 times a day but not like red line mabey untill 6.5-7k. I change oil every 2500 miles so i thinks its ok.
