Too much for a lude?
Hello, recently I decided to sell my 00 civic 4dr w/32000 and a/t because I wanted something with a little more power and sportier. One of my friends told me that his brother was selling a 98 prelude base model w/118k. Ive spoken to the guy and he says that he takes the car to all its maintenance dates and has done nothing to modify the engine. He has put 17 inch rims, new tires and a new clutch recently. He also has a cf hood and an exhaust as well. He wants 5500 for the car. I'm not really sure if its worth it. I have not driven the car yet, but lets say it drives good...what do you guys think; should i sell my car and go with that car or just find another?
I've seen one where I live (South of Memphis, TN.) that was an '01 Base, Red, VTec, A/T Tranny, with 45K on it... They were trying to sell it for $15k at first.. It's gone down to like $14k or $13k I think.. Most that I see around (5th Gens that is) here in and outside of Memphis are always over $10k plus. It's crazy.. I'd say that's a good deal.
Most 4th Gens are $4k/$5k plus..
They're hard to find around here too. :S

$5500 for a 5th gen lude?
You better take it off the guy before he takes himself off the reefer.
That's a freaking steal!!!
I got my 97 with 140K for $12000, and that was the cheapest one on the market at the time.
Question though, is this car in calgary? And if so is it red?

That's a pretty low price for that car. I'd buy it if I were you. Before you finalize anything, it would be a good idea to take a thorough look at it, as well as have a certified Honda mechanic take a good look at it.
Is it an Automatic or 5spd. If its an automatic, you should pass that, cause you'll have problem with the tranny, but if its a 5spd, you better buy it, cause thats a pretty good deal
Hey thats a good price, my friend bought his 97 prelude with 120K for $5500 a few months ago, the car seems to still be working fine. But yeah definatly take it to a honda shop.
take it and run with it, only 5th gens, 5 speeds that run 5-6k are either salvaged, have body damage, mechanical failure, the works.
Make sure you get a full diagnostic check, although he's your friends bro, you never know with used car. I bought my lude, engine was running strong, idling great at first, next thing i know the valves are f*cked. 0 compression in one cylinder, set me back 1600 putting in a new motor. Becareful, take the right steps then jump on it if its clean. Goodluck bro.

sounds like a pretty decent deal to me, def. have a mechanic look at it and test a lot of stuff out on it, but even if it's got that many miles, if it's maintained it doesn't mean all that much. not to mention that it's obviously a 5-spd if it just had the clutch replaced, sounds good. i'd jump.
i got my 92 lude 5 spd. w/ c/f hood, lowered, header, catback exhaust with 130,000 miles for 2g's and there were no dents or anything. the next day i swapped in the h22a, bodykit and paintjob.
