Default d16z6 vs. d16a

Any difference in the two blocks? I will be replaceing the rods and pistons so if thats the only difference, thats no problem. What i'm looking to do is build a d16z6 and i have the d16a block and crank sitting around if it will work. thanks

D16a...6? I was under the assumption that all D16a blocks had the number after the 'a', since virtually all d-series in Japan were ZC's (or d15b).

If that's the case, yes it will work fine. The rods/pistons will work w/o any problem, assuming you size the bearings correctly. The only real differences are the placement of some sensors.
