Default code P1457

My 99 civic failed emissions testing because of Code P1457. Does anyone know how I can fix this. I only have a couple of months to fix the problem so any help is much appreciated. Has anyone encoutered this before? If So, how did you fix it?

P1457- evap bypass solenoid valve

well to test this u really need a honda HDS
but if u just want to get it fixed and not worry about anything, just order a new one
this is caused by water getting inside the valve and causing corrosion

call your local honda dealer
here is the part number
17012-S01-A00

Code 1457 can be any number of emmisions related problems. usually this code signifies that you have a large leak in your fuel tank system. It could be as simiple as a cracked hose or vaccum line or your ebsv could be bad.

how much does the EBSV cost? also, is it relatively hard to install or can it be done simply?

99% of the time either someone left the gas cap loose or off, or the gas cap has been dropped and is allowing a pressure leak from the fuel tank.

Tighten the cap until it clicks a few times and have the code cleared.

If the code persists, then replace the gas cap.

If the code still persists THEN have a Honda dealership diagnose and repair it.

Usually the code for a gas cap is 1456 and is considered a small leak from the tank. My recommendation is to just take it to the dealer and have them look over the vehicle, they can hook the PGM or HDS to see how all the emissions sensors are reading. They usually charge an hour for this. Also if the sensors are all working properly they can use the smoke machine to find the leak.

I'll recheck the All Data here, but from my recollection P1457 is the tank code, while P1456 is the canister code...

I'll be back.

when the BPV corrodes.. is it obviously visible? because mine isn't. both the 2-way and the BPV looks fine.

here are some pics:

I found one of my hose split so I replaced it with what you see as a clear vinyl tubing. I don't think this makes a difference because the Y coupler is open on one end anyways.
