Why don't you morons let him decide what he wants for HIS car?

Call hmotors and ask them what they charge for shipping, if I remember correctly it was somewhere around $250.

I don't know if are buying a motor just to replace one that is shot or if your buying one for a swap. If you'r buying one to replace, I'd go with the classifieds since there is probably someone close to you that did a swap and has the sohc your looking for.

If your going with a swap, save your presidents for something along the lines of a b-series (ls,gsr,type-r,b20/vtec,ls/vtec)

What did I just say? Don't tell him what he should do, maybe he really wants a d15b, maybe he can't afford a b-series and will not be able to anytime soon, maybe he is doing it to **** you off. No matter what his reason just let him get what he wants.

mine was like 325 i think, thats a complete changeover b16 (extra **** shrinked rapped to it) to south dakota. they are out of cali so that should give you a good guess. also tell them its a business there shipping to and just have someone with a cherry picker waiting for it on the delivary day. and dont wast your money on a sohc, save for the duece, youll be much more happy

d16y8 motors are 127hp? and you can find them in utah for about $200 cheaper than the d15b. youll just have to pick it up... no shipping charges other than gas to pick it up. so you are going to save around $400...

if you want single cam, find a wrecked ex.
there are plenty of them.

the reason for the d15 swap pretty much has to do with money ide rather have a slow car now (cuz the motor in my civic is shot ) than a faster car in a year cuz thats how long its gonna take for me to save it. the swap will pretty much be a plug n' play not a whole lot of work invoved, plus its in my budget and has a little more power than the stock motor.
in reply to ROK801 i live in south ogden up on 5300.

It was advice, he could take it or leave it. I don't have a knife to his throat making him choose, he is new to the forum therefor could be new to honda's in general and not know some options that are available to him.

i have always ran a d16z6.. the y8's are ****... they have rod bearing problems... not all of them just 3 that i have swapped out for friends... my car isnt really slow.. but its not the fastest thing in the world and i never think it is... for the price of a single cam ex or si tranny with home made turbo and tune you can get a b16 soo??? also if you blow a single cam its freakin 300 bucks not 700 or 1000 whatever b16's or gsr longblocks cost... its also more smog legal to swap single cams.. i havent had any problems going from cx to ex cops dont say crap about the motor

soo you decide on whatever motor you want to go with if you get a single cam.. save like 1200 to go home made turbo and smoke gsr whatever powered hatchies..

I have a D16Y8 now, but its startin to burn some oil. Ive put it about 1 1/2 to 2 qts per 3,000 miles. Rather build one while the car is still running, so minumim down time.

the d15b I bought from HMO was the biggest piece of ****, worse than I could have ever imagined from a "reputable" company, if they would have made a mistake, that could have been fine, but they knowingly sold me the biggest piece of **** motor they could find. To start with, the shipping company they used is ran bye a bunch of rednecks, took an extra 9 days to get my motor that I paid residential delivery for, ended up having to pick it up myself and couldnt get a refund on the 50$ residential deliv. fee, unwrapped the motor, downpipe bolts were broken, exhuast manifold bolts were broken, a valve cover bolt was broken off in the head, tried for two days to remove it, couldnt. TPS was missing, put another one on and could never get it to work, ended up just replacing the whole throttle body, and the motor smokes like a chimney at high rpm's, right off the crate, im guessing the rings are gone, which means they either didnt check the compression or did check the compression, then broke a valve cover bolt off in the head, and said screw it, we'll sell it anyways, I called before I put it in to get a TPS that they left out, and he gave me the run-around, and after all the other problems, even if he would have takne it back and got me a new one, I couldnt have waited another month, I deliver pizza as my job and I was about to get fired because it took them so long the first time. thumbs down to HMO!

:edit: I forgot to mention that the tranny that came with it grinds in second and third at 5000+ rpms
