Since Turbostart batteries are no longer in production, what are the alternatives to 16V batteries. Can't find anything anywhere.

 

Believe it or not, the Optima yellow top has done wonders alternator-less.

We have ran it all year without any downfalls, and you don't need the expensive charger.

Weight is roughly the same as the Turbosmart.

 

We have done a few full chassis cars with dual red tops and no problems, however optima is going to release a 16v battery at either SEMA or PRI the only question is will all the turbo start customers be able to use there chargers or do we need new ones.

From what I hear Turbostart has been bought out and will be back up and running. The only question is when?

I have one used one coming in and maybe some back ups i might be able to sell in a few weeks from our race trailer.

 

You could always use 2 8 volt tractor batteries and series them together to get your 16 volts that is where the idea of that battery came from . Our shop did most of the R&D for Newcastle battery who owned turbostart and the first ones where two 8 volt batteries

woah buddy no need to post that many times. and just for fyi powermaster is coming out with a 16v battery. it will be released jan 2006.

 

I have an extra charger, do you have the sealed battery?

Beware of the Turbostart Chargers...Ive had one go bad...then plugged in the spare and it didnt work either...Rick Jones has someone making him 16V chargers that work great...contact Quartermax if you want to get one from him.
