I have a 99 civic Si and when i am in 5th gear on the xpressway it pops out of gear on its own , does anyone have a clue to what this may be ???

 

it means that ur tranny is about to go...you should replace it asap before it gets worse.

Actually the trans just needs a rebuild of the syncros that are worn. Just change out the sleeve of the gear thats poppin out on you and you should be fine. The ring around the syncro has probally worn square instead of being round. An easy and inexpensive fix.

 

Ok i know have another question , I was backing out of driveway and heard a thump, now my car does not move at all , but when I put it in gear it makes noise and the speedo moves accordingly , could this issue only be a bad axle shaft ?????

 

yes it could be an axle. i had the same problam.

 

This is what most likey happened..

Your axles has poped out of the diff... you need to click it back in.. or get a new axles...

popping out.. of gear could have been that alex... OR...OR ..

sometimes popping out of 5th only.. means you are very low on tranny oil ..
