trans grinds???

ok i have a 90 DA with a gsr motor and S1 trans...ive got a stage 3 exedy clutch and a lightened flywheel.... everytime im at a high RPM either upshifting or downshifting into 3rd it grinds a bit...also does this going into reverse....whast my problem??

It sounds like your syncro's might be going in the higher gear, i actually read a thread about this early this morning, check this out...

I have the same problem with reverse on my daily driver DA. Try putting it into 4th then going into reverse. Works everytime for me. Otherwise reverse grinds.

Yeah, or putting it into 1st, then into reverse, that's just a Honda thing though.

yup, third gear may have bad synchro and usually an almost totally worn out 3-4 shift collar. your reverse problem is probably the 5-R shift collar. both collars are very common wear items. you're looking at about $300 in parts, new.
