Whoa... 94-97 Accord EX could be classed in HC
I submitted quite a bit of information about the Accords. Prettymuch everything that runs a F series engine and it should be running at a competitive weight.
I salute you Corey for taking the time to send the info.
Its awesome news, if they offer a competitive weight the Accord EX should make an interesting race car. 4 wheel disc brakes + ABS + a little more power and torque outta be fun. BTCC used the European version of our 5th gen Accord for a while, was quite successful too.
Now Santa... please have it classed in ITA too.

I'd be almost 1/4 way out of debt.
Why are you guys selling the mighty Accord?

Let grumpy rent it out for you. You could make that $4500 in no time.

Rather than asking Santa, send an email to Topeka, KS. I don't think there's any question that it would be listed in ITA if someone requested it but it would probably be on the fattish side.

Wouldn't it seem silly to the big guys at Topeka to get a request for classing a car when I don't even have a racing license?

You DO need to be an SCCA member to make the request, but don't have to have a competition license.
Complete the VTS sheet...

...and send it electronically to the club racing office with a request that the car be classified in IT. Coordinate with Jeremy Thoennes - he'll save you a lot of headache, since there are actually some parts of that form that are not required.
We have a little case of deadwood setting in, in the IT classes. There's no real incentive for current drivers to list new cars, since they are invested in what they have, and most new racers don't really understand that there's a process in place to let them get a car listed.
If there's something you want to run, turn in the forms and help get IT into the current decade.

Knestis: thanks for the link. I do have an SCCA membership, I'll definately write up an email and send it off along with that form. One of the reasons I am still clinging onto the Accord is because I had hopes over time it would land in H4 and ITA. Sure its not the sharpest knife, but I always liked watching old BTCC races with the Accords running around.
There is actually an online form now, to submit rules change requests, including new classifications. Dig into the SCCA site, under "rules making process," i think. It's pretty slick. I submitted a request yesterday that it be allowed to remove central locking systems.

back from the dead update:
94-97 EX accords will be running in H4 at 2600#s!
and LX/DX's have been dropped 75#s to 2525
anyone who runs a 5th gen have any problems getting down to minimum weight?
