i think they are
i think they are
Thanks, yeah i suspected they were. I luv that color, the deep flat black but am also a big fan of flat gunmetal.
These are the only black slipstreams i see around. As u can see, they are slightly glossy;

Anyone know if slips come in flat black or flat gunmetal or do i have to fetch the big bucks for spoons?

yup
yup
If you just want the flat color don't waste your money on Spoons. The spoon wheels are good but to buy them just for color is a waste. Buy a set of Slipstreams and get some rattle can paint for a few bucks.

I am 100% sure that these are Spoons. I know so because he sold them to somebody else at the VA meet last winter.
As far as the color questions, wheels can be any color now days. Rotas can be painted flat black and spoons can be modified as well, like mine

The only thing that really tells you is:
With 15" wheels:
Look at the back, it will be engraved "Made in Russia"
Weight them. My wheels weight 8.5 pounds and you can really lift them with one arm straight sideways.
With 16" wheels:
Look at the back, it will be engraved "Made in Russia"
They will weight 12 pounds I believe.
16" spoons have no holes besides the lug nut holes, but 16" only, 15" spoons have other holes around the lug nut holes.
Spoons and Regamasters are all made by the same company and the only difference is the finish/stickers. You can tell about rega's the same way, the only difference is you can sometimes just look for stickers as long as their not painted or modified like mine. Now you can only tell by the engraving on the back of mine and weighing them
At first I hated it, but its a great theift enhancement

He's right in that the only reason to buy spoons is for performance reasons, which is why I got mine. Braking/Accelorating is PHEONOMINAL with 8.5 pound wheels. But you pay for it by the price tag.
If you just want the look, paint them yourself. A friend of mine painted his Rotas flat black and my spoons are polished and now it looks like I have the fakes and he has the reals

Ok, thanks. I guess if i want the flat colors without spending big bucks i will have to respray some rotas. I wonder why rota went though so much trouble making the rim shape look just like sws, but didn't bother to match the flat paint?

I'm just back from the WTB and FS threads and so many people wanted or were selling flat colored rota slipstreams (most popular were flat black).
Were all of those painted flat black?

After visiting http://groupbuycenter.com/Listings.aspx?id=17 i found that rota do come in flat black;

compared to this pic of normal black slips from the rota site;

Who here has bought flat black slipstreams or knows someone who has them?

They are called flat black, but they still are "glossy" compared to real spoons.
Seriously, get the flat black slips and if they're not as flat at you want, just rattle can paint them for a couple bucks.
