There are sooooo many causes for losing oil. How do you know you're burning it and not leaking it?

Cam seal
Valve cover gasket
Spark plug grommets
Headgasket
Oil pan gasket
Piston rings
Blowby
Random leak somewhere....

well it has white smoke when you start it. and I dunno if this will help in diagnosis but there is a metal grinding on metal sound, only within the first 2 miles of driving, as in the motors not heated up, and only when i get over 2,500 rpm. and i've never seen any drips.

white smoke is usually a blown head gasket. Are you sure it's not bluish? you could need new rings, or valve seals. it depends on when it's burning when you drive. does it do it when you accelerate, does it do it when you hit VTEC, or does it puff smoke when you shift?

but VTEC is the cause for a lot of oil consumtion--mostly blow-by on mine I've noticed...

the grinding noise is probably your trans. you should make sure the car warms up before you drive it. a flush/fill on your trans wouldn't hurt.
