Default Recommended Parts to replace w/ new Koni Struts?

My 95 has 140,000mi and the OEM suspension.

What parts do should I look at to replace along with the new struts?

I know the Koni center shaft is larger then the OEM center shaft. Will OEM the OEM collar and top bushings work with the new shock?

What all parts comes with the Koni's? I would think the top nut and washers, but how about the rubbers, number 7? Will I need to replace the rear collars to avoid the OEM shock knock?

I guess a better way to put it is: What would you replace to avoid annonying rattles and knocks?

Thanks
matt

that looks like to to me. the only thing that i truly recommend is a set of some kind of dust boots; the konis don't come with any. and i mean the good kind. like from a set of rancho shocks or a steering rack or something.

Have you done this? I found these: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autop...0boot

but they have a large hole at the top instead of the small hole the OEM cover has. Do you think I can make that thing hold onto a washer?

Thanks

you're probably tired of hearing from me by now but here's my recommendation:

Replace #7 (you need 2) for sure and possibly #10, depending on your mileage - all the rubber parts. The rubber compresses over time and may break down depending on what its been exposed to. I spent $100 total to get the rubber parts for all four corners (hondaautomotiveparts.com) but I know I'll never have to worry about them again.

Konis will have a new locknut for sure. the OEM sleeves only cost $0.40 or $0.50 apiece so it wouldn't hurt to tack those onto a parts order if you're not sure.

when you get ur Koni's in they will come with everything to accomodate the larger shaft size. IE the bushing and collar. don't worry you will get everything you need to refresh your tophats. on a side note the new bushings are a pain to get in.

You mean the lower suspension bushing on the lower control arm?

I guess I'll just need to get # 10 for each corner. My LCA bushings are all good, and if they go bad it would be just that lower suspension bolt to take out again.

Thanks alot boosteddude

Boostedlude, are you sure the Konis are going to have replacements for #7? The ONLY setups I know of that come with new mounts are the JDM setups that have pillowball upper mounts.

As far as OEM mounts, every manufacturer has you reuse your stock mounts.

In the pic I posted what is the white c shaped washer?

It looks like the collar is in that pic. Is that what it is?

Thanks

Good deal. Helps justify the $500 price tag too.

Bilstein wasn't that nice to me At least the shocks themselves are built like tanks

Where did you order your Koni's from? I called Koni and they didn't seem to know for sure what it came w/ The mentioned everyting in the picture above. Except the white thing. He also metioned one rubber deal. So I don't know if he mistook the white deal for the rubber bushing. Or if they have a single bushing that will replace the the two #7's. I guess I should just excercise some patience, and wait till they get here.

Thanks either way I know what to look to replace.

As far as replacing some of those bushings I would take a look at some polyurethane bushings (#10 & 7). I put a whole front end kit in my car and it made a huge difference.

if you were to purchase a poly kit for the front you would have to bore out the shaft hole on the top hat bushings to accomodate for the larger shaft
but the bushings that come with the koni's are poly.....so why waste the money

Call me Captain Obvious, but now would be a good time to scrub those wheel-wells clean.

Well I got my Yellows today. I guess I ordered from the wrong place, because they didn't come with any bushings. They came with the exact stuff shown in the picture above.

I'm going to order all the rubber and abunch of other stuff from hondaautomotiveparts. I'll update on how things go.
