The "First" EP3 CTR lip mounted on my friend's EK4
Dear HT-Members,
sorry for my repost but I thought it might be a good idea to post a seperate thread just for this "DIY" since there are some of you who might be interested and curious as well.
So this a "DIY" or a report how my friend Flowi mounted a EP3 lip on his EK4.
For my part, I really love the outcome, also the whole car as well.
Please post your comments and critics as well, we are curious about your opinions.
So here we go, the process of the rear bumper written by my friend Flowi:
Well, at first it started with an idea. I used Photoshop to see how the EP3 lip could look like.

Thereafter I decided to give it a try and bought the lip. Here is a picture when put it on, to see what work will be necessary.
Of course it would not fit right away, so there will be lot of work to be done.

I started to do the first fitments and heated up the EP3 lip since it is made of ABS Plastic you can fit and form it very nicely.
Heat it up, form the fitment and cool it down with cold water otherwise if you dont cool it down, the lip has some kinda memory effect which will form itself back to the original state.

After this process the lip fits the original bumper much better than before.

So once again after verifing that everything fits perfect, I fixed the position of the lip with some screws since the lip was under great tension.
I also cut off the head of the screws thereafter and used some additional "carbody" glue.

The lip is sticking to the bumper like **** on shoes and has been adjusted nicely !

Now I had to adjust the alignments so it wouldn't look odd (it would look kinda strange just mounting in EP3 lip without proper aligned roundings) using some fibreglass "bondo" and other things to ensure the paint will stick for eternity and no paint chips in future.
Proper work has to be done here and is very important.

New roundings and "line" of the lip.

So after all the work, the bumper should have been painted now. But during the process I wonder why not "fusion" mold in the lip with the stock bumper ?
So in the end I prepared the lip/bumper again to make a new nice bumper. The whole bumper got grinded etc...and some kinda black control paint sprayed on which lets you detect dents and uneven surface easily.

After all the work has been done, this is the painted result.
Dont mind the Altezzas, I later decided that the new bumper looks even better with FL rear lights.

Hope you enjoyed !

i also think that it would have looked better as a lip rather than molded.
The end result is nice, but a little too showy for me

for taking a risk to try something new and different.
IMO should of just left it as a lip. there's no turning back, now that it's molded.
