Bump for a great looking car at a great price.
I'm not too familiar with that motor, but if it can keep up in H4, someone needs to jump on that ****.

It's a damned shame that there was no such thing as an "Si" with that generation of hatch - the one that this car essentially creates. That would be my ITA car if so.

Is it in fact H4 eligible? I don't know the rules that well. If so, that would be great.

Great car and tempting price. I don't think anyone has put effort into specific rules for an EK in H4, but it wouldnt be a big deal to do so. That chassis should be able to run the EX D-crap Btec motor!!! oh well.

The stock engine in this hatch is rated at ~106 hp which puts it pretty darn close to the second gen CRX SI. I believe the EK hatch weighs a slight bit more than the CRX Si with not quite so good internal transaxle gearing. Based on that, I would think that it would be a good ITB car or perhaps ITA.

If I were in the market for a new race car, I would jump on this. Appears very clean with some good parts.

car would definitely not be competitive in h4. any chance it would get dumped to h5? it would have the most pwoer in that class, but could take on weight.

Car is already classed in H5. It can also run in H4. Different weights would apply depending on class.

Brandon, are you going to build something else?

Yes, you can run that car in H4 at 2175 with the stock motor. There is no provision to run the car in H4 with the Y8 VTEC motor though.
I think it would be difficult to get down to that weight in order to be competitive in H4.

I agree with Edik though. Wish I had the money. It would make a GREAT USTCC car!

yes, i will build another car...

the car was classified in WCHC at 2150 in H4, and 2400 in H5.

im really looking to sell it to someone that wants to put a swap in because i dont want to rebuild the d16y7 that i spun the rod bearing in before i sell it. but i will if that is what the buyer requests.

the car is beautiful, and will make someone really happy SO BUY IT ALREADY!

Ahh... it's already classed in H5. Well then, even if it could make weight for H4, it likely wouldn't be compeditive there. Ask me how I know..

At any rate, it would still make a awesome Conference G-Prod car (if sold in the PNW) or NASA H5 car.

Hell, I'd buy it if I had the money. Good luck with the sale

last time i was at the track it weighed about 2140lbs with half tank of gas and me in it. and i weigh about 180... so the car is really light, with plastic windows and a carbon hood and lighter wheels... the car would way under 2000 with a smaller driver...

will deliver anywhere in california except LA... i dont think my jeep would make it down the VINE with a trailer... 500 bones (for gas and beer) haha

not much less that with a new engine. the lower end on a d16y7 cost about 200.00 to replace... a brand new motor is 400.00 or less

Is the D16Y7 the engine that came in that generation of EX?

the vtec motor in the 6g or EK chassis is designated d16y8 and is only found on the EX trim level. the non-vtec motor in the DX trim level cars is the d16y7.

didn't know that the EK EX gearbox had a 4.19FD. i always thought it was the same as the 4th and 5th gen EX/Si cars at 4.25. i'd imagine the individual gear ratios are pretty long too. what honda challenge class does a 5th gen dx hatch fall in?

That's why I asked about the EX - not the EK. When I petitioned SCCA to list the 6g EX Coupe in ITA, I wished that there was a hatch equivalent, a la the one-generation-older Si.

Speaking of which, how hard to find are the 92-95 Si's? I ask because there's one that seems to spend a lot of time sitting sadly in a back parking lot near my house.

unmolested eg si are getting very hard to find, and hold their value much better than the coupes and sedans

It's pretty hard to find usable examples. It seems most have been abused, riced-out, etc.

wow very nice .... I wonder how competitive it would be in H4 though?

What else does it need to be NASA and SCCA ready? Fire system, battery cutoff switch, etc? Did you remove too much for it to be legal in SCCA's IT classes?

Oh and why exactly are you selling it?
