Nitrous on 94 LS w/AEM CAI
Can anyone tell me what type of 1/4 mile numbers I should be seeing on my 1994 Integra LS with a ZEX 75 HP shot and AEM CAI, by the way, the car is an automatic. I went last night and the best pass was 16.1 @ 86 mph. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed with the results. The car seemed to run much harder on the street, I think that the bottle prressure my have been low. Anyone have any experience with a similar application? Any comments or advice will be appreciated.

It was pretty cold that night, and the bottle pressure was really low, almost empty. As far as the launch, ton of wheel spin. I did brake torque a little on the second run (16.1) which helped a bit, down from 17.?? The nitrous is activated at WOT, should I launch without the nitrous and then turn it on after launching? I have tried that a couple of times on the street and it seems to work ok. If you were to guess, what would you say this car should be running in the 1/4 mile? I do not have any other engine/exhaust mods to the car other than the nitrous and CAI. I would have expected low 15's to even high 14's. Am I way off on this?
Thanks for your input.

Everything is running good/correctly on the car, probably the driver. I did have a lot of tire spin on the launch on a cold night with very low bottle pressure. I do not have an a/f gauge or egt. Do you have an opinion of what you think this set up should run if I got a better launch?

Thanks for the input. How big of a difference does the torque converter make? Did you ever run it without the converter, if so, how did it do?
How do you recommend launching with my setup to get a better time? Right now, I leave it in D4 the entire time and nitrous on from launch to finish.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

16.1 is a really bad time dude, for real. not trying to be funny or anything. i know it had A LOT to do w/bottle temp and spraying in first gear. You should really have an A/F gauge and EGT gauge if you plan on further tuning your NOS and getting the most out of it. An S-AFC would be worthwile for you... especially if you got some cams designed with NOS in mind.

16.1 doesnt sound right at all...those 17s couldve played a lil role in it too but i dunno for sure..what i do know is its capable of 14.4 and better probably ..which was wat a friend did in his 95 ls with i.h.e and some steels up front...he also removed back seat and spare tire...runnin a 70 shot of nos...and its an auto too

torque converter, biggest upgrade i could ever do for my car...it put a lot of the power i lost through the tranny, back to the wheels....i've usually braked in 1st...and step on teh gas...and when i released...i waited till 4000 i hit the n20 and then let go at about 6200, and shifted and squeezed again and then let go @ 6200 and then i stayed in 3rd gear and got up to 108.
Definitely get rid of those 17's at the track and like someone mentioned previously--get a bottle warmer!! Nitrous is not affective when the bottle pressure is below optimum--usually 950 to 1000 psi--or whatever the manufacturer suggests. As a matter of fact, the last issue of Honda Tuning mag had a great article on a Nitrous Express wet kit on a 2001 Civic. It was a jetted to a 60 shot. When they slapped it on the dyno it didn't quite make the claimed 60hp. The shortly noticed that the bottle pressure was too low. The let the bottle warmer do it's thing and then dynoed it again. With the bottle pressure at like 950 psi the dyno registered exactly 60 hp to the wheels. Now, I don't know if Zex measures their shot @ the wheels, but you should definitely have a better time than 16.1. With just intake and exhaust I managed a 15.9 (see sig)
My friend's LS auto ran a 15.9 with CAI and exhaust only.
My auto LS with i/h/e did no better than 16.8. Brake torquing, neutral dropping, just hitting the gas, and going thru the gears, I tried it all. 16.8 was my best time.
All you do is hit the gas with an automatic, how could someone get a 15.9?
When I did my 5-speed conversion, then I got a 15.7-15.9.
How are you guys going so fast in automatic LS's? I'm speaking to those with just i/h/e and the like. No nitrous.

The LS had a port/polish, TB, and a 70shot.
I'm talking about the few guys who were saying 15.9 with regular auto LS with no mods except i/e, and maybe header.
