First Year Integra Airbags?
My brother wants to get a used Integra for his daughter (my niece) for her 17th birthday soon... The main qualification is that it MUST have airbags for her safety. Does anyone know what year they started putting these in Integras?
Thanks!

I don't remember that far back, but from my observation, in 1992, all cars were required to have a driver's side airbag. By 1994, it was required for both driver and passenger. Some expensive luxury cars got them earlier.
i think the first year was 92... and all 94+ have air bags.. .. the previous G2's had the automatic (motorized) seat belts.. and earlier had the manuals and no air bags..

isnt it illegal to remove your air bags if your car is equipped w/ one stock? even if it wasnt.. you might have some issues w/ your insurance company since your "removing a safety device"
Its not hard to check for a airbag. If the SRS light is on then there isnt one. If the person pulled the light you can always pop the cover for the air bag off to check as well. sucks to cause I was like going like 10 miles per hour and bumped something. Nothing happened to bumper but the air bags blew. Cost like $2500 to replace. I'm like wtf screw that I'm going to buy a new steering wheel and seats with better seat belts.
And to answer your previous question. No it is not illegal to remove air bags as long as your SRS light is on. As soon as you disconnect that you can get in trouble. So if you sell your car, which is suppost to be equipped with air bags and it dosent have them and the SRS light is off. You are held responsible for all bodily injury to that person. So basically your screwed if anything ever happens to anyone in your car if they dont have the air bags and they thought they had them.
