Re: Best gsr motor oil (luv2cruz)
I always thought paying 5 bucks a quart for mobil one for my engine would be the best thing in the world. After taking apart a few motors that used Mobil 1 synthetic I now know that regular oil is just as good. I might get flaimed for this but I refuse to spend $30 bucks for an oil change.

Re: Best gsr motor oil (Evil GS-R)
I'm pretty much on the same side of the river now. I'm getting freakin' tired of spending so much on oil when I use like 6 quarts every oil change interval b/c of it burning up an extra 1.5 quarts b/w changes.
I'm going back to Valvoline 5W-30.

i really don't think it makes a diff, just as long as its 5w-30 or 10w-30 and not a no name company

Re: Best gsr motor oil (luv2cruz)
My 96' teg GS-R has about 147,000 miles on it, and I used the 5w30 dino oil until about a month ago. It always worked well, I got great gas mileage, etc. I saw no need for synthetic because I always had my oil changed at about 3000 and didn't see the need for more expensive sh|t. But because of my high mileage the oil has started to leak and burn off, not a whole lot but enough that I needed to add a quart every once in a while. There was no oil on the ground under my car or in the engine compartment, so I took it to my friend who owns an outo body/service shop and had him look at it and drive it. He said it's normal for a car with that many miles to start burning oil because of tiny cracks in the engine, combined with the very light oil that the teg uses. He drained the pan and put in some 10w30 and told me to keep using that. The engine I think is actually quieter..or smoother somehow if that makes any sense, and the burning problem has been solved. The gas mileage isn't really any worse, which is something I was told to watch for, and it seems ok in the cold, but this has been a pretty warm winter. So I guess it sepends on how many miles you have on your car and what you're going for. Sorry for the long post, hope this helps.

I use Royal Purple 5w-30 synthetic. Car seems to feel somewhat smoother with it. I also like the idea of saving fossil fuels. I've heard of people saying they run better times w/ it, but I really have nothing to back this statement up with.

I use Mobil 1 5W-30.. or sometimes i'll get the 10W-30 for $21/case (6 quarts) at Costco cuz thats all they carry no 5W-30...
i think its more important that you stay on top of your oil changes/maintenance schedules than what brand oil you use.. I know i drive my car hard.. so I change my oil and filter every 3K havent had any problems w/ it..
