Default I belive its carbon build up, not sure though.

Well I was checkin my plugs a little while ago to see how they were doing. Were normal for the idleing I had just done. But I decided to take a peek into the cylinders with a flashlight and I was kinda dissapointed. I believe the cylinders are 4 3 2 1. On #4 the top of the piston was gray, like it was newer. I couldnt see #3 or # 2. #1 had black shiny crap on it. Looks like carbon, according to the few pics I can find of carbon on pistons. The base of the plugs on most of the plugs were black, but nothing on the threads. #1 was a lighter mocha color lol. Is it possible that #1 sees more carbon build up? I think im burning about 1/4 quart of oil per 600 miles or so, with fast highway driving and some quick accelerations. The muffler tip has some soot on it but not bad at all. I want to run Sea Foam but I dont want to expletive things up. The D16Y8 has almost 120,000 on the ticker. Runs like a champ at 34mpg. Can I spray mist into the TB and do it that way or what do you think?

Tryin to give the most info as possible, sorry for the long read.

Why are you afraid of running Sea Foam? I think it could help out your case of carbon, since thats what Sea Foam does is eat away at it.

Run sea foam.. Just have some new spark plugs ready. I've heard they can foul out from it.. I'm not to sure but new plugs can't hurt

The car idles fine and everything, Im pretty sure its normal but just wanted some opinions. Anyknow know about misting water in the TB?

Seafoam, then change sparkplugs and oilchange.... then do it again right before your next oil change
