LS VTEC HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what head is better for ls vtec. B16 (si) or b18c (gsr). I am building all motor would like know which one would be more productive.
I've heard that the b16 head flows better but im not sure,i would like to know which is better and why it is better also...i've seen more b16 heads in a ls/vtec though...
the gsr head make more compresion which you will prob not notice the difference but u also loos alot of compression doing v-tec from an ls i would stick with the gsr an use a b16 ecu but either way you will be fine jus make sure u get a bigger intake manifold (gsr,skunk2) than the ls that will make the most difference
Going all motor... get a B16 head, it flows better, but the cams in a GS-R are a little more aggressive, but hey, your going all motor so you'll be taking those out right? well the b16 is what you want, for the flow...
i have a friend who tried both set ups and said that the GSR head is better because it has better flow and more high end then b16. b16 head will give mor torque but loses high end. so i would stick with the GSR and get the butterflies on it too

Actually the b16 head flows better, but the GSR will make slightly more torque. Makes sense, being as how Honda based the Type R head off the b16. Heres a little tech just to show I'm not talking out of my ***:

A stock B16A 1st gen average flow is 235cfm@28'' and at 450'' lift.
A stock Type R head flows appx 245cfm@28'' and 450'' lift. Appx 10cfm more.

I don't know the GSR specs, but here is a b16 to type r comparison.
