Dont' ask me why, but I've done a H23 tranny with an Accord 5th gear. I would assume a H22 with H23 5th gear would work.

i heard the F22 tranny is the best for boosting. you should just trade me your H22 tranny for my F22 tranny

did you do the work yourself swapping over the 5th gear, what did it take and how does it function?

60 mph
F22-2500
H23-3000

80 mph
F22-3500
H23-4000

The top speed of an H23 is 130@6500 RPM (140@7500 if you bolt it to an H22). If you put an F22 transmission on an H22 you can theoretically run 150, but I doubt you'd actually get that fast

Yea, the only reason I did it was because the 5th gear in the H23 melted for some reason. I had an Accord tranny laying around and swapped over everything from the 5th gear. I got the tranny to work, the only reason I did it was to get the car raceable. I only did two or three passes on it and tossed it away, I guess freeway driving would have been cool, other than that I don't know if there is a purpose to doing it.

I like having an H22 tranny, but an H23 tranny lets you run a little longer between shifts.

I've run an H22, H23, and an F22 tranny. I used the Accord trans for the motor I built for the Gumball, but I didn't like it much for the drag strip.

Mostly the H23 is what I look for now. They're cheaper and there are lots more of them. Of course if you want to get better 1/4 times, then the H22 is probably what you need.

longer gears for boosting over shorter gears is an old wives tale. You don't get more boost because you have a tranny that takes longer to get to whatever rpm.

I'm not sure what would result in ultimately faster speeds. All I know is when I was boosted (10-15 psi) & using an M2a4 H22 tranny that I was going through the gears so fast that it didn't seem like I was able to take full advantage of the boost. I bought an F23 tranny (reverse is bad) to fix up & use for it's longer gears, but now I'm NA so I never had a chance to use it & compare to the H22 tranny.
P.S. the H23 5th gear is worse for freeway rpm's than M2a4 & M2b4 trannys, & the same gearing as USDM 5th gen 5 spds.

not really, turbo cars make more power against resistance. You follow?

Hey guys im H22 turbo'd. And yah with h22 tans i just tear threw the gears too quick. and peel to easily in each gear also. Im thinking about gettin the f22 tranny cuz its longer gearing. but im wondering if its too long of gearing. Does anyone know the speed and rpm of each gear with h22 motor and f22 or h23 trans. THANKS!!!!
