I just got a bmc log and it doesn't have a external wastegate flang. What do yall use to cut the manifold? I have a guy thats going to weld it on but I was wondering what yall us. I bought a wastegate elbow and i was going to cut one of the flanges off and weld hte elbow on. Will it be strong or should I brace it. I know that the elbow will hold up b/c lots of people use then fine and I know the welds will be fine. So what do yall use to cut the hole and should I brace i.
Thanks alot,
Chris
Thanks alot,

I use a carbine hole saw, $20-25 at your local machinest tool store. Works great and last a long time (one I got now has lasted almost 30 manifolds and still has life to it)

Where do you get your hole saws from (i.e. brand)? Ive been using bi-metal hole saws on schedule 10 stainless and am lucky to get 2 manifolds worth of life out of em!

There are many machinest tool stores in houston. I use Granger, CW Rod, Bass Tools, Rutlands, AirGas, and Wholesale Tools. Try checking your phone book for some companies simular to this otherwise just check the net for carbide tipped holesaws.
For Tial 38mm Wastegate elbos (schedule 40 1.5") I use 1 7/8" hole saw, the pipe fits on it very nicely, just a little bit of work with a die grinder and it will drop in place. If you use a 1 1/2" the hole is smaller than the od of the pipe and you have to do a lot of fitting, if you use 2" the hole is to big and you have big gaps to weld up.

If you can find a Wholesale Tool, you should be able to get a carbide 1 7/8" hole saw for 15$ that is what I just picked up mine for today
