recently, my buddies clutch pedal has been acting up. the clutch pedal would work fine. you step on it, and it goes back up. but once you start the car, it might work for a while, but once you step on it, it stays down, and you would have to pull the pedal back up again. we checked, and there is still fluid...could it be the cylinder going bad?
Check to see if there are any air bubbles in the system. Also feel on top of the clutch and brake pedal and see if you feel any brake fluid, if so your slave or master cylinder is going bad.

First sign of Master or slave going is low or no fluid in the reservoir. If you look behind your clutch pedal and you see brownish fluid, it's probably the master cylinder. If you stick your finger in the boot that the slave cylinder sits in and it's all wet, then it's probably the slave... good luck.
