Not much. What other mods do you have?

Minimal gains stock but completely depending on your setup and state of tune. But as you get deeper into modding for more power will provide for freer flow and more potential tunable power.

But is a much better alternative than a test pipe in areas where smog/emissions inspections are of importance or if you care about the flora and fauna.

I'd suggest a Magnaflow HF cat instead and either save the difference in $$ or put it towards something else or even autoX or a track day.

Talk to Mike at IPS (link in my sig below) about the Magnaflow HF cats.

$350? Wow...that's quite a price tag. If a test pipe is totally out of the question, I'd try to check out Carsound, which is about half the price of the Comptech you speak of.

Not to mention Carsound is about 1/100th the quality too! I would avoid Carsound, I think their cats. are complete junk. At least on the ITR. I have gone through three of them in two years on a pretty much stock R (see my sig. not much has been done...)

I don't disagree with you, lots of people say that they'll get a CEL after a month of owning them. However, the performance is still there, which is what matters.

Performance in terms of high flow. But performance in terms of work on the exhaust, probably not since you are throwing a CEL.

I guess my point is that I bought the Carsound not just for the high flow rates, but also because it would keep the exhaust within specs. so that you would not throw a CEL; maybe this was not their intent and that is my mistake but at the time I was led to believe that it would perform well enough to keep the exhaust within the specs. the ECU was looking for with the secondary O2 sensor.

Cool thanks for all your help. would you know how it would change in terms of how my car sounds? i just DONT want the ricey buzzing noise. I also heard that generic brand cat's will lower your car's performance instead of increasing it so should i still get the magnaflow? does it have the same quality as comptech?
