Default Paint cracking on new shocks when installed

I installed a new set of GC coilovers (with koni yellows) on the civic. While I was installing the fronts, I heard this cracking noise when I jacked up the suspension to tighten the bolts. It was the sound of the paint cracking off where the damper fork met the shock body. I wondered if there was any way to avoid this (although it's too late now) or if that's to be expected (it was my first suspension install). I sprayed some PB Blaster at it so hopefully it doesn't rust away.

Its propably when the metal flexed a little bit causing the paint to crack, its perfectly normal. Just spray something on there so it dosent rust and you'll be fine.
