Default 2001 Honda Accord Break light stays on.

Just noticed that tonight the break light would come on when the car is in Drive. I believe that Break light is for the Hand break? We do engage the hand break but i know for a fact that the hand break is disengaged when the light came on and stayed on

Is there something i need to check? I have a long drive planned for tomorrow and i hope this is nothing major..

my car spec:

2001 Honda Accord Value Pack (DX with 4-cyclinder Automatic)

TIA!

If its the red brake light on your dash that usually is used for your hand brake. You sure its down all the way?

make sure u got planty of brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir......if not add some and chk the lite again and if low inspect the btrakes they might be worn and chk for leaks,,,,,,,,,,,if planty of fluid, chk to make sure e-brake is all the way off , if so, u might have a faulty master cylinder fluid level sensor

I am having the same problem with my wife's 2001 V6. It only comes on when it is cold outside and had it at the dealer for something else when it first arose, they didn't say anything about my fluid level being low.

Have there been any service advisories for the master cylinder sensor?

Oh, yes the ebrake is off as well not engaged.

could also be a possible e-brake switch stuck, maybe if you spilled lots of soda down there...

No soda spilled in the car, it's the family baby, it only has 14k on the speedo, doesn't get drove too often.
