Anyone else think all these "WTB" & "For Sale" posts, specific or not are getting a bit out of hand
Maybe I'm just gettin old, but all these WTB & For Sale postings seem to bugger and clutter everything up in here lately.
It seems to be just a huge swap meet of everything either "For Sale" or "Want to Buy" or "What do you think of this car I'm lookin at?"
, more often than not accompanied by an Ebay link, which iirc were not to be tolerated according to the last batch of posted forum guidelines.
As I understood it, there was to only be Type-R specific postings for parts. But I think recently even that's getting out of hand.
Now, I know times are changing and many of the past owners are selling, and many new people will be looking to buy a used R. I understand and respect this. But it's becoming that every other post is some item on the auction block.
I thought we already Had a classifieds section for sales and wanted postings? Why is that not a good enough or obvious enough place to do buying and selling? Seems many folk (yes mostly new) come in here before taking a moment to look around and just post up what they want just to be instantly gratified.
I also remember that if the for sale item wasn't Type-R specific it was to be moved but I haven't seen much moving of general items that may also happen to fit on an R lately.
I do also notice members posting a "For Sale" and a link to the classifieds the correct way, so it's not all negative. But again I notice when one member reminds another who posted some obligatory "For Sale or WTB" post without a link or against the guidelines, they get flak.
This is not a rant. I am not mad and I'm not looking for conflict. I am also not making any negative comments towards the moderators. It's my observation and a comment to consider.
When I visit other forums that I am active on, I always fondly think of Honda-Tech as better organized, better policed and full of useful information even if much of it is archived now, but still with helpful older members albeit not as active lately for whatever reasons.
I absolutely do not like the look of the R forum recently though, with everything either "For Sale" or "WTB".
But mostly I don't like that the guidelines are being ignored and overlooked for the "quick sale" or "quick purchase".
The "Flea Market" atmosphere is plain ugly.

yea i noticed that too, there are alot of non itr specific parts for sale. Just universal things that could fit on an R, but I keep quiet. People on here easily flame the **** outta you if you try and make things right. ::awaits flame::

I posted above that I completely understand that owners will be selling and newer members are looking for cars, that was not my point. It's all the other crap that is being posted and passing through this forum that is Not specific.

To clean it all up why don't we have a thread dedicated to Type R thefts and Type R for sale parts respectively? This would organize things greatly. All of us R owners and those who are not have to scour the for sale threads to find that infamous R part that we need and it generally takes forever to find it.
It would be nice if the possible 'stolen r' thread and the 'R parts f/s' thread were stickied in the R section of HT.
I'll admit, I've contributed to the F/S problem. Not much, but it all adds up. Like the original poster stated, I agree with him in that there are too many stolen/fs/ebay links and not enough good stuff i.e. the good technical debate. Someone with a serious problem that needs the H-T wisdom etc. etc.
Whats your opinions mods?

The only problem with one thread for ALL links to ITR parts in the Classifieds, is that it would be a huge PITA to sift through to find an item of interest.
As always if one does not like a thread or questions whether or not it should be allowed in the forum, please report to the post to a moderator or PM me directly. This forum is shaped by what it's members want.

It is annoying, especially for non-US members (and there are quite a lot of us) Most parts for sale are of no interest as shipping costs just kill the price of most parts for sale. I counted one night and there were 12 for sale/WTB threads on the first page, and IMO its making a bit of a joke of the ITR forum. I do realise that the classifieds section moves so fast that unless you keep bumping your ad then its down on page 8 after 30 minutes and possibly not noticed, so in a way i can understand the reason for members wanting to link that ad on this forum. I guess the only way round it would be to have a specific ITR parts FS/WTB forum, but then all the other model owners would probably want the same for their models, so i guess it'll just have to stay the way it is.
Here is a pretty simple solution...
Post your ITR parts on a ITR Only forum . Use the http://www.itrca.com/forums/index.php Forums to avoid this headache.

I like seeing ITR specific stuff forsale in the ITR forum. I dont visit the forsale forum, plus stuff moves too quick on it.

I have a NOVA sale thread like that, its about 450 pages long. Its really not that bad, we just bump the items until they are sold, usually the last few pages are the ones with parts still for sale. I can see what your saying but I too notice alot of FS and WTB threads.
Thats awesome!!!

or...ban for sale threads all together from the ITR forum, and have everyone advertise their items in their signature, much like mine. i get many more inquiries than opening threads.

You make a good point as I also have some FS items in the sig. I think this method would probably be the best as it wouldn't clutter up things and if you need/want to bump it back up then do so from there. I don't read everyone's sig, but if this is where we went with it I'm sure people could get very used to that. /.02

For what it's worth, that has worked out well in other forums. You can do that if you want.
