alright, my first attempt to put a y8 on my y7 ended in failure, i needed a different throttle cam, caz the angle on the y7's was wrong, now can i use a 97 ex throttle body with an automatic or manual tranmission on my manual d16y7 ??? also, i was reading others who had y8's put on there y7, and they say that they used a y8 intake manifold brace, i dont think i have one, or do i even need it for this swap, thanks and i appreciate it

 

Just finished the swap about 1-1/2 hours ago. I used an intake manifold from an automatic 98 EX. You NEED to use the y7 throttle body (even though all the sensor connections, positions, etc. are the same off the auto EX TB), but you'll need the throttle cam from an EX throttle body, unbolt it and switch over, make sure to preload the spring or it won't return right.

A lot of people say they run without the brace. I made one out of a 3" angle bracket - not as sturdy as the original, but better than nothing.

If you use the y8 TB it will act like there's a vacuum leak, probably because either the MAP or TPS sensor is incompatible and isn't picking up (or one of the sensors was bad on the setup I got).

Also, make sure that the manifold you got has an o-ring installed under the fuel pressure regulator, or it will shoot gas about 4 feet in the air. Probably should've checked that before starting it up.

Make sure to use the original Y7 injectors too, or you'll run rich.
