hey, ive been looking around lately for an 96-00 Civic ek. I was looking for eaither stock or swapped.
i found one guy who was selling a 98 black ek stock, for around 3500-4000, now w/ that i was going to do apperance then swap a b16in.
i just found a 96 black ek, with a 97 jdm itr motor in it, the motor has around 57k miles, professionaly intalled, and is asking around $8k. what one should i go for? im thinking this one, but it is an 96 kinda old...?

to generic of a question.
how is the body condition of each car?
does the 96 have other mods besides the itr motor? is it really an itr motor?
wouldnt you rather have an itr motor ready to go then wind up spenk all that money to have a b16, and wind up being pretty close in cost in the long run?

I don't trust the swaps that have been in somebodies car. That's why I wouldn't buy that car. What are the chances that it's been beat on, pretty high. What are the chances that it has something wrong with it, somewhere up there too.
Do your own swap... plus I hope you are not going to rice out your car.

i second this. YOu dont know where that motor's been. I would get the 98 and then get the itr swap. At least you'll spend the same and have an extra motor laying around just in case something goes wrong with the swap

here in s. florida...itr complete motor/tranny swaps go for about 2600-2800...which means you'd def. be wasting u'r money on a 96 for 8000...if that car was turbocharged it would be worth it...but its not.

i know, wel i was thinking that 8k semmed a little high even though it does have a itr in it, but its still a 96. the guy took a picture of the block engine code. "B18C.
but i may go w/ the 98' seems better condition, never been modded, prob never pushed. will eventually have a b16a of course, but then i have to drive around w/ 106hp for half a year..heh
