tie-rod replacement part question!

Default tie-rod replacement part question!



ok im a noob at replaceing the tie-rod, mines is clicking and i see the boot is cut up. what do i actualy replace? i know for sure the boot, but what else? circle 1, circle 2 or none of that?

you only need number 2 if it's the outer tie rod.

I agree...You could however go ahead and replace both the inner and outer tie rods but it would be easier to just do the outer tie rod. When you go to pull the outer tie rod off take the hardware off where it connects to the control arm and hit the bolt upwards with a dead blow hammer (metal hammer). Dont hit any new parts with a hammer due to the fact that you could tear up the threads.

When you take the outer tie rod off dont forget to mark with a paint pin where it was on the inner tie rod or count the number of twist it takes to get it off. This will help prevent you from needing an alignment.
