5K and tach is jumpy

5K and tach is jumpy

89 crx si, stock with minor bolt ons.

This started about 2-3 weeks ago. When I get on it, around 5k, the needled jumps and occasionaly, the car misses (backfires) at higher rpms. It idles fines, cranks perfect and does'nt always do this. It just started out of the blue.

Dizzy? (and yes I searched, but most folks were having consistent problems)

sounds like your ignitor/coil is going bad. buy one and carry it in your car because it will leave you stranded somewhere with a code 15. happened to me. or just replace it.

My car just started having similar problems. It also started a part throttle bogging problem. Looks like me and VegaS10 are going to be carrying spare coils.
