install remote start for manual transmission
Extremely ill advised thing to do unless you can guarantee that you never leave it parked in gear.
'Cuz if you did, the first time you fired that thing off, it would take off for parts unknown. (and the chase would be on).
I can see some obvious advantages to something like this if you've a Mother-in-law that's giving you trouble. .......
but, if you want to avoid things like busted garage doors, parking lot accidents and some really strange questions from the Police, I'd say don't even think about it.

If you're bent on doing this then uses the correct alarm system that's designed for manual trannys. IE - CompuStar makes a remote start system inwhich you get out of the car while it's running (and in neutral) and using the remote, arm and lock it. It then shuts the car off, leaving you free to SAFELY use the remote start function. I think there might be others out there with a similar feature, but I don't think DEI has gotten around to it yet. Unless you can wrangle up one of these particular systems, then DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS. I've watched a pro, a certified installation specialists for car electronics with years of experience, push a full-size Craftsman tool box through a wall into a building because even HE forgot.

Pretty much like on an auto, you just have to tap into the starter signal wire after the starter cut relay. But like these other guys say, it's not recommended. (and i'll vouch for that from personal experience)

I installed an Autopage remote start on my Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. It will not start unless the car is in neutral. I had to tap into the neutral switch at the transmission. You also have to install a relay that will bypass the clutch interlock safety switch. The install was pretty easy. I also installed one on my g/f Honda Civic with no problem. I think people get into trouble when they don't take the proper safety measures. I have seen people just bypass the clutch switch (straight wire it) and not hook up to a neutral safety switch. This can lead to problems as described by other posters.
