now i dont know if this has been discussed or not, but i suppose i just wanted some of your thoughts and opinions on this matter, didnt really know where to post this but seeing as i have an em1 i'll play it as safe as possible and post in the civic forum haha,

anyways...i have an 00 si with about 73k miles and going up fast..i commute to school 50 miles a day mon-fri so im really racking up these miles, as soon as i transfer schools (to a closer one only 5 minutes away in my same city) (**The reason im attenting the farther college is just due to complications in my academic past**)...anyhoo...its pretty much my beater right now..running a jdm b16 in it..although i do take care of it very much with oil changes/tune ups with fluid flushes and filters/ weekly carwashes and monthly wax jobs...my question is pretty general and im only seeking to get some opinions from you guys..but i plan on investing ALOT of money (saving as we speak) once i transfer schools with a new built motor tranny-clutch and im going to boost it..also new suspension/wheels the whole bit...but for instance..say my car has 150k..or even 200k miles on it...does that really matter when all this work will go into it?..does the chassi itself suffer from old age and high milage?..am i better off just leaving it as is and save up for a less milage car later in the years to build on?...i'd like to hear some opinions on people's limitations when it comes to investing so much work/money into your car..and where you draw the line...thanx

Seeing how an EM1 is a Civic, I'm sure it's fine to post here

How long will it be before you transfer?

 

high mileage on a newer car is better than less mileage on a 10+ year old car. since its only a few years old, most of your bushings and whatnot should be fine. the same pretty much true for the motor aswell. i didnt read all of your post cause i just got home and im sleepy but i think you should be fine

i want to blow this em1's brains out when im through...hopin to have earl build me a rock solid b18c1 with all the bells and whistles and a drag III kit

 

if your building the car for you, who cares.

if you are building it with plans to sell it.

even if you know the car is good, some people are stuck in the state of mind that a car is no good after 100k. even if everything has been rebuilt or replaced.

 

no i dont plan on reselling..i want to build it from the ground up and keep it as my project/daily driver..

 

so then why go buy one for more money with less mileage if you are just gonna change everything anyway?

you already have it, doesnt make sense to get a different one. unless it has some kind of heavy collision damage or rust or something.

 

did you blow the stock motor??
if not why do you have a jdm b16a in it

 

well if it didnt have a "jdm b16" in it i would say sell it and just get a stock ex since you plan on swapping anway..... that way you could make out with a little more cash since it is an SI
