Default B18c1 Vs b18c5

Will a b18c1 with a port and polished itR head, be faster then a b18c5? Both having the same cold air intake, header and exhaust. b18c1 being in a gsr, b18c5 in the type R. thanks

The B18C1 with the ITR or B16 head would have the compression ratio decreased below the stock 10:1. (ITR and B16 have a larger combustion chamber volume compared to the GSR.) It is a bad choice unless you plan to change the pistons.

You can easily build a B18C1 that will dyno better and perform better in the car than a B18C5 will.

It depends on your pocketbook and the builder. It's going to involve a little more than you have listed (pistons and computer), but you can easily do it.

I suggest going to a track and resolving this matter. Bench racing is meaningless.

my friend with a GSR block and a R head...
definitely more torque then the R...
but the GSR motor is in a DA integra.. so =X
and the GSR has a Mugen ECU with a fuel cut off (redline of 9500) =D
his will definitely beat an R on the track... and has

I don't understand how a GSR shortblock (with the same bore and stroke as the ITR block), mated with an ITR head, and lower compression due to the GSR pistons - could mean more torque?

Yes very confused as well. I thought this would have been flammed from the start, but I guess theres something useful behind this?

No one knows who did the headwork and what was done. For all we know, the combustion chambers could have been welded, to increase compression.

We really don't know who will be faster in this case, due to the many variables that could play a role.

I hope both cars are totalled if they're planning to race on the street, however.

Unless he's done more extensive modifications that you haven't mentioned, he's not making more torque than an ITR.

Personally, I'd rather street racers end themselves before harming anyone innocent.

That's all there is to that.

i have a frined with a gsr.. motor is somehow built to stock spec. with "maybe" higher compression pistons. and vtec @ 4400.. i dont know about the 2ndary.

when we raced. i had hard time beating him. and i have anr header with full exh with some intake. 2nd gear pull..his car will pull me right away and i catch up to him 3rd gear redline. and 4th gear i will pull him away but ... it's fast for a gsr..

so. if he got a itr head with p/p.. it might be faster ..

only way is to find out your self.
and let us know

Agreed.

Back on topic: Dogginator summed it up for you.

How relivent is this? (rhetorical question btw)
