Default B16 Block with B18C Head???

I have a B16 Block with a GSR B18 Head, is this a good swap? Would a LS Block be better then a B16 Block?

It's okay, it's basically a stock engine you have there. A B16 head would be better suited for the B16 block, but a GSR head is okay too.

An LS block would make it an LS/Vtec, and would require more work/modifications to make it work. It depends on what your goals are.

a gsr head on a b16 will if i am not mistaken make less compression due to the b18 head haveing larger combustion chambers

well unless u like to boost then the lower c/r would be nice. or sell the b16 bottom and get a GSR bottom. more trq. somewhat and higher c/r.

you are mistaken, a p72 gsr head has a smaller combustion chamber, and will give you roughly a .5 increase in compression

on my book the real advantage of using a p72 head on a b16 is the ability to use iab's
can help b16 mid range

I would rather use a B18C head on a B16A block for the compression. Given a choice between the B16A block or B18B block though, I'd rather use the B18B block for the extra displacement.

well the head has Crower Valve Springs and Retainers and has ITR Cams and Valves...I just got a Skunk2 Pro Series Manifold....So is the B16 Block good for all motor or anyone considering a different block? I have a older style LS block here I can build but im not really sure what all I would need to convert it to LS/Vtec

A b18c head on a b16 is better it bumps up your compression thus gives you more power so it is better. Then a stock b16 Put some CTR pistons or some higher compression pistons and your better. That set up is better reving then a lS vtec but the LSVtec will give you more torque about 20lbs more
